How do I get to the island?
Our island manager takes you over by boat from the pier at Öjna. The transfer is included in the price.
What is the minimum stay?
Five nights.
When can I rent the island?
From mid-May to early October.
When is the best time to travel?
Summer brings the midnight sun, September the autumn colours and, on clear nights, the first northern lights.
Nature and weather
Can I see the northern lights on Majorsgrund?
Yes, on about 5 to 10 nights a year.
How warm does the sea get in summer?
Up to about 22 °C.
Do animals live on the island?
Yes, various wild animals.
Are there many mosquitoes?
Usually only at dusk and when there is no wind.
On the island
Is there fishing on the island?
Yes. Two fishing rods are available. You need a Finnish fishing permit, which you can buy online.
Can I make a campfire?
Yes, at the designated fire places.
Is there a barbecue?
Yes, a large gas grill on the covered terrace of Aurinko.
Can I use a hair dryer?
No. Its power draw is too high for the island’s off-grid system.
Is there basic medical care?
Yes, first aid kits are on the island.
